Visa

Visas are not required for stays up to 30 days. A valid passport, onward/return ticket, and proof of sufficient funds are required for entry.  For further information on entry requirements, particularly those planning to enter by a sailing vessel, contact:

Climate

The climate in Vanuatu is tropical with temperatures varying between 22°C and 28°C. Between May and October, the weather is cooler and more dry. The wet season, also known as the “Cyclone Season,” is between November and April and tends to be hot and humid.

Time

Vanuatu is 16 hours ahead of American Eastern Standard Time (EST). During Daylight Savings Time, Vanuatu is 15 hours ahead of EST.

Currency & Business Hours

The local currency is the Vatu (VT). Visit www.oanda.com for current exchange rates. Hours of business are normally Monday through Friday 7:30am to 11:30am and 1:30pm to 5:00pm. Banks are open Monday through Friday 8:00am to 3:00pm and the Post Office Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm .

Electrical Voltage

230 volts AC, mainly three-point plugs in hotels.

Health

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggests that citizens traveling to Vanuatu be on anti-malarial drugs when visiting the island. For more information on malaria risk, see the section on Malaria Information for Travelers on the CDC website.
